Malia & Sasha Obama Give a Rare Interview in Michelle Obama's Documentary
Malia and Sasha Obama, aged 21 and 18, make a rare on-camera interview appearance in the new Netflix documentary Becoming, which focuses on Michelle Obama's life after the White House.
Becoming starts streaming on May 6.
We haven't seen much of Barack and Michelle Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha, since they exited the White House in 2016. There were some sightings of the family on vacation, and snaps here and there of Malia moving into Harvard University, but for the most part, the sisters have stayed out of the public eye. And understandably so, considering they spent eight years of their adolescence in the spotlight with their father as commander-in-chief.

However, the pair, aged 21 and 18 respectively, make a rare onscreen appearance for their mother's upcoming Netflix documentary, Becoming. The project gives a fresh, "unplugged" look at Obama's life after her time as first lady, and it's only right that two of the people who know her best, her own daughters, speak about this new chapter in her life.

"I'm excited for her to be proud of what she's done, because I think that that's the most important thing for a human to do, is be proud of themselves," says Sasha, who just finished her freshman year at the University of Michigan, according to OprahMag.com. Malia, a junior at Harvard, also comments on how her mother is "no longer facing that same scrutiny" that she was as first lady.
Both siblings look so grown up sitting on a couch together, sporting her own respective style. Malia wears a cream-colored V-neck with cuffed lightwash jeans, layered gold necklaces, while Sasha sports a black Aaliyah graphic tee, distressed jeans, hoop earrings and colorful nails. They've come a long way since their ballet flats and baby doll dresses during their father's early years in office.
