Makeup Artist Jillian Dempsey Shares Her Simple Daily Beauty Routine—Plus, Her Husband Patrick’s Go-To Picks

Makeup artist Jillian Dempsey’s services are some of Hollywood’s most sought after, and we’re in luck because the icon, 56, just shared her everyday makeup routine. (No, this is not a drill!)

Married to McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey, Jillian recently told People how she and her husband use simple techniques paired with her brand’s cruelty-free, organic, multi-use products to achieve an effortless daytime look. And the real star of her product lineup is her latest launch: the unisex Spot Stick Concealer.

“I am a very fussy beauty person and like to get out the door fast!” she told People. That means multi-tasking: While drinking coffee, she starts most days with her Hydrating Eye Masks and Sculpting Gold Bar—a routine that Patrick (and Gwyneth Paltrow) has also adopted.

“I will also moisturize my face,” she continued. “I also use my Spot Stick in shade 05 to cover over blemishes, and apply a little under my eyes.”

Jillian created the Spot Stick to fill a gap she saw in the beauty space. She was in need of “a matte, non-iridescent formula in a convenient stick form to cover blemishes—something fast and on-the-go,” she explained. And the stick is just that—it’s on the dry side, but contains nourishing vitamin E and sunflower seed oil so you don’t flake. “It is packaged in a highly functional design with a small, flat circumference made to mimic the size of an average pimple,” Jillian added.

Following the concealer, she uses her Cheek Tint in Sunny for a “healthy glow.” “I also mix Rich Brown Khol Eyeliner with my Lid Tint in Taupe and Ruby, using my mini-fan brush which gives the perfect glow for my eyes,” she explained. “I follow that with a coat of mascara and lip balm.”

As for Dempsey, 56, he doesn’t like to wear makeup—even on set. “This creates a lot of wear and tear on your skin,” he told People. That’s why he loves the simplicity of the Spot Sticks. “If I have an important meeting, I also use the Spot Stick (in shade 08 if I am tan) to cover spots on my face, razor burn on my face and neck, and a bit under the eyes,” he explained.

The actor is grateful to Jillian for helping him establish a self-care routine, despite them being somewhat taboo for men. “I was never aware of what to use until she gave me products. I was able to see the benefits of what these products and techniques offer,” he explained. “The older I get, I see the impact of what a proper routine has to offer and what works.”
