Mulled wine is arguably the most multipurpose drink you can make during the holidays. Not only is it a soul-warming beverage during the chilly holiday season, it’s a great way to use leftover red wine and fruits you have stocked in your cupboards. The wine makes your house smell delicious as it simmers. Plus, you can throw everything in a Crock Pot and let it go while you mingle with guests.
This “Tipline” video demonstrates everything you need to make a delicious homemade mulled wine for your next holiday gathering.
All you need is a bottle of red wine, preferably a Grenache or a Zinfandel, apple cider, and brandy as the base for your warm beverage. Add some cranberries, orange slices and cinnamon, and let simmer in a Crock Pot. (You could also make mulled wine in a large pot on your stove.)
Watch the video to see how easy it is to make mulled wine at home. Then try it yourself, using the recipe below:
1 bottle red wine, preferably Grenache or Zinfandel
2 cups apple cider
½ cup superfine sugar
½ cup brandy
1 cinnamon stick

In a Crock Pot, add all ingredients. Turn the temperature to high until the wine mixture starts to simmer. Then turn the dial to the ‘warm’ setting and let it sit for about 30 minutes before serving.
