Major crimes unit investigating after body found at Giants CB Janoris Jenkins' house
New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins‘ house in Bergen County, New Jersey, turned into an investigation scene when a body was found on the premises, multiple reports said.
TMZ reported that Jenkins has been in Florida and was not at home when police arrived.
Body identified as belonging to family friend
Prosecutors told reporters late Tuesday that the body was that of 25-year-old Roosevelt Rene, a family friend who was living at the Jenkins home.

Officials did not provide details of Rene’s death.
“The manner of death will be determined by the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office after a post-mortem exam,” the prosecutor’s office told NorthJersey.com.
TMZ and the Fort Lee Daily Voice reported that police were investigating at Jenkins’ house. Law enforcement authorities confirmed to the Daily Voice that a body was found at the home. TMZ reported a body was discovered in the basement of the house by a worker. The Daily Voice confirmed that a worker found a male body in the basement at about 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini also confirmed that police confirmed a body was discovered on Jenkins’ property. Russini said Jenkins has been in Florida since the Giants’ minicamp broke earlier this month.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Tuesday evening that law enforcement sources said they’re investigating it as a possible strangulation/suffocation case.
Law enforcement officials on the scene
Both reports said there was a police presence at Jenkins’ house. TMZ published photos of a major crimes unit truck outside of the house.
The Daily Voice said homicide detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit and forensic investigators from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification were on the scene along with Fair Lawn police.
Jenkins is a star cornerback for the Giants
Jenkins is one of the best cornerbacks in football. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Rams, then signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with the Giants in 2016. He made the Pro Bowl his first season with the Giants.
Russini reported that Jenkins and the Giants are aware of the situation.
