MAFS Australia's Alyssa hits back at her edit on the series

Married At First Sight Australia's Alyssa Barmonde has hit back at the edit she received on the series, saying she doesn't recognise herself on TV and the edit gave her more doubts about her relationship with Duncan.

Speaking to Hello! Alyssa reflected on her journey saying whilst she wished Duncan the best, she doesn't feel she was represented as herself within the series.

"I do wish the best for Duncan and his future relationship, but the person portrayed on TV is definitely not me," she said.

Alyssa added she had found the series difficult to watch as it wasn't portrayed in the way she remembered it.

She said: "It's been hard watching it back specifically because of how the story went, which is not how I remember it."

Alyssa was married to Duncan in the tenth series of MAFS Australia and the pair instantly hit it off at their wedding ceremony. Their relationship strengthened as the series went on, with many cute moments in their honeymoon.

However, when they returned to Sydney the couple ran into a number of issues. Initially Alyssa struggled with intimacy due to her conservative upbringing, however the pair seemed to get over this hurdle and become closer.

The biggest issue the couple faced was Alyssa's reluctance to believe Duncan wanted to be in a relationship with a single mother. ICYMI Alyssa is a mother to a young son.

Throughout the series Duncan insisted he was ready for the relationship and wanted to be with Alyssa, he was frequently seen telling Alyssa: "No, it's [Alyssa being a mother] not a concern."

However, Alyssa has since claimed those moments were not as they initially appeared.

"[The editing] almost gave me more doubts about the entire relationship. Because then I started thinking back and I think there was the time when the experts asked him if it was a concern that my child would be a priority. And in real life, he said 'Yes, it's a concern', but then they edited him to say 'No, it's not a concern' and I thought 'I can't do this anymore'," she said.

The issue came up frequently and often resulted in Alyssa walking out of the commitment ceremonies.

Despite Duncan's insistence he wanted the relationship, by the time the final vows came around Duncan told Alyssa he did not want to continue their relationship.

Since the series ended Duncan has moved onto a new relationship with fellow cast member Evelyn.

Alyssa told Hello! she felt she now had her "voice back" and wishes for people to see her as "normal person and loving mother."
