  • Vanessa Morgan recently announced her pregnancy, but trolls online are more concerned with her husband, Michael Kopech, filing for divorce.

  • Her costar Madelaine Petsch came to her aid in the comments to disapprove of those sending Vanessa hate.

ICYMI, Riverdale's Vanessa Morgan shared last week that she's expecting a child, which, yay! She made the announcement to her Instagram account after posting footage from her super cute baby shower, writing, "I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January 💙. This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose. I cannot wait to meet you!!"

Unfortunately, just days after Vanessa made her baby announcement, a major bombshell dropped—Chicago Tribune reported that her husband Michael Kopech quietly filed for divorce on June 19 after six months of marriage. Still no word yet on what prompted the split, but Vanessa's reps did confirm to People that Michael is the father of Vanessa's child.

Since the divorce news broke, people have been rude towards Vanessa in her Instagram comments, mocking her relationship status. One user wrote, “Where’s your husband at though?” while, another jumped to majorly unnecessary conclusions and said, “Don’t disrespect our pitcher like that.” Thankfully, Madelaine Petsch—Vanessa's close friend IRL and love interest on Riverdale—was not about to let these comments ruin Vanessa's energy.

In response to the second user's comment, she replied, “Honestly if I see one more comment like this I'll lose it. Vanessa is a beautiful mother to be and the hate and disrespect I'm seeing on this post about her bringing a new life into this world is disgusting.”

The good news is that Vanessa isn't letting the internet's insensitive comments stop her joy. More than anything, it seems like she is thankful to be bringing a life into the world. "Thank you God for this blessing," she concluded her Instagram post. "I’m just so happy & can’t wait to dedicate everyday to being the best mommy I can be."

Glad Vanessa has an amazing friend like Madelaine to stand up for her!
