I've always thought of the MTV Video Music Awards as the Grammy's scrappy, slightly fucked-up younger cousin. Like, he's not necessarily a danger to anyone at the family reunion, but he's definitely a bit too sauced to be helping your kindly old grandmother to her seat. You got to calm down, man. You're doing way too much right now. If you're not careful Grandma's about to bust a fucking a hip. (Again.)

Historically, the VMAs haven't exactly won themselves a sterling reputation for the sort of sartorial excellence on display at some of their posher award show counterparts, which is why it's such a nice surprise to see Machine Gun Kelly show up and show out in a neon pink suit— sleeveless pink turtleneck and all!—from Kris Van Assche's newly revamped Berluti. Shortly before his performance alongside Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker (in what amounted to a visual smorgasbord of heavily tattooed torsos), the rapper hit the white carpet in a fucking bonkers outfit that fully embraces the anything-goes nature of the show.

And as much as I want to hate this fit with every fiber of my being, I really can't. I got to give props. Kudos, MGK. Well played. If my drunk cousin came through to a family event in tailoring half as good as this, I'd give him a free pass to spill most of the gravy tureen all over my shirt any day.
