There are a lot of bad masks out there. (Disclaimer: Masks will save your life, so technically all masks are good, but stick with me for the sake of the bit.) Masks that don’t fit your face, obviously. Masks with text on them: “I’m actually smiling,” “Will remove for wine,” “If my mouth doesn’t say it my face definitely will.” Any mask featuring a Disney character. Just write all those off.

Before today, I would’ve said that you should go black cloth or surgical and call it a pandemic. But no. Macaulay Culkin proved otherwise. The Home Alone legend (and recent Esquire cover star, by the way) just tweeted a picture of himself wearing a custom mask… featuring his own face. And not just any Culkin mug. The print on his mask is an homage to the famous Home Alone poster, which—you know the one—sports lil’ Kevin with his mouth absurdly open in shock. In the picture, Culkin’s IRL eyes are wide open, completing the throwback look. And, yeah—it’s definitely the best mask we’ve seen during this whole thing.

"Just staying Covid-safe wearing by the flayed skin of my younger self," Culkin wrote in the tweet. “Don't forget to wear your masks, kids.”

Two questions: 1. How do we get one? And 2. Is it even cool to wear one if you’re not actually Macaulay Culkin? Mack, if you're reading, please let us know. We can all rock the only appropriate emote for this year—paralyzed in shock, mouth wide open, eyes wide open. Here's hoping we make like Kevin and get through it all.
