My mom is a creature of habit. While she loves shopping, she often reaches for the same pieces year after year. But many of her fall and winter go-to’s have run their course; fluff is coming out of her puffer, her boots are scratched and peeling, and she has a few gaps in her closet she’d like to fill with the holidays underway. That’s where I come in as her personal shopper: I took to our favorite retailer, Nordstrom, and curated a capsule of seven essential items that’ll get her through all of her upcoming holiday outings and winter activities.

My mom has worn the same puffer coat for five years. It's not super dressy, so she can’t wear it to a nice holiday dinner, and the filling is busting out of the seam. She has been hunting for the perfect coat that needs to be girl's night-approved and date night-ready. So, I’m adding Gallery’s Double-Breasted Peacoat to her Nordstrom cart.
The peacoat comes in a black-and-white herringbone print and sizes S through XL. There’s a button-front closure, stand collar, four front-welt pockets, and a full lining for added insulation. It has a contoured, slim fit that falls a few inches below the hips.
Tommy Hilfiger Imiera Faux-Leather Ankle Boot

My mom's favorite brand is Tommy Hilfiger, and she’s been wanting to add a pair of ankle boots to her winter shoe rotation, so when I saw Tommy Hilfiger’s Imiera Faux Leather Ankle Boots, I knew it was a match made in heaven. Sizes 5 through 11 come in four colors: black, light brown, dark brown, and navy. The boots have a faux leather exterior, 1.5-inch heel, side-zip closure, and a gold-toned decorative buckle featuring the brand’s logo.
Reiss Lara One-Shoulder Long-Sleeve Sweater Dress

My mom loved the off-the-shoulder top I bought from Nordstrom a few weeks ago, but said she felt it was a bit too young for her, so I went on the hunt for a shoulder-baring dress or top she could feel confident in. She stopped me mid-scroll when I came across the Reiss Lara One-Shoulder Long-Sleeve Sweater Dress.
The chic black dress comes in sizes XS through XL. With the option to be worn draped off one shoulder or both, it has a loose blouson-style top and a closer fit down the sleeves and skirt, hitting a few inches above the knee. The ribbed stretchy fabric allows for a bit of give, making it great for a fancy dinner. For a more casual look, this off-the-shoulder sweater gives off the same effect.
