The Pants of the Summer Are (Shockingly!) Still on Sale at Lululemon

Have you spent your whole summer scrambling up the steepest of inclines, reaching the summit, looking out over the expansive landscape laid before you, drinking in the mountain air, and feeling at one with nature? Yeah, me neither. But even if your last trip out the front door was more focused on securing a six-pack than IDing the best footholds on a cliff face, there's a very good chance you've noticed the same thing I have: All those techy trousers built for grand exertion in the great outdoors have migrated to the rest of the world, too.

Climbing (and climbing-inspired) pants—ones made from performance fabrics, with room to move and a built-in belt—are ascendent this summer, and when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. They're lightweight, so you won't turn into a self-contained sauna even when the temperatures reach even higher than the geological phenomena were originally designed for. But they're also tough as nails, which means you can just as easily plop down on the curb as you would a boulder. They've got room to move, whether that means hitting full extension to make it to the next seam in the rocks or sitting criss-cross-applesauce while drinking canned rosé in the park. And the built-belt not only keeps them secure on your body, it also just plain looks cool.

If you're reading this and thinking, Damn, I could use a pair or two of these pants, 1) I don't blame you, and 2) I have good news. Lululemon, maker of beloved pants of all varieties, has its own riff on the climbing-inspired pant. It's lightweight and durable and made to move. And even though it first went on sale last month, it's (shockingly!) still available for 40 percent off. For my money, the khaki is the way to go in this sweltering season, but you might opt for the gray version (if you can find your size), and you wouldn't be wrong.

In fact, the only thing that'd be a major misfire at this point is passing up this deal. Finding Lululemon pants on sale in a relatively full size run is a rare thing. Finding Lululemon pants that also happen to channel some of the most happening trousers out there right now? That's rarer still. Don't miss out.
