Luke Combs’s Rowdy ‘SNL’ Performance Earned a Lot of Very Heated Reactions
Luke Combs is already huge with the country music crowd, but now the rest of America is getting a taste of his rowdy southern style.
The singer stopped by Saturday Night Live recently, where he performed “Lovin’ on You” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” Longtime fans are probably already familiar with his honky tonk concert moves, and took to social media to express how much they love Luke. Some even think he should be next on deck to perform at the Super Bowl (though we’re not sure how he’ll top J.Lo and Shakira).
The petition for @lukecombs to be the Super Bowl 2021 halftime performance starts now. #SuperBowl #LukeCombs #TimeForSomeCountry

OK, no one is going to care but Luke Combs was really good on SNL last night. Just good, simple country music. No pizazz or gimmicks, just straight up good singing.

Luke Combs gets a better workout on stage than today's most actively pacing pop stars. #SNL #LukeCombs https://t.co/gRYvZvskj5

Others, however, were not quite as on board. One person wrote, “Applebee’s has better entertainment than [SNL] tonight.” Another said, “I’ve never heard #LukeCombs until right now. I guess wearing flannel and having a beard is supposed to make me believe this isn’t just generic #brocountry.”

Watching @nbcsnl wondering what it is about @lukecombs that made him succeed. Why did this person making it? There doesn’t seem to be anything unique that makes him stand out. Am I missing something?

Luke didn’t seem to mind any of the negativity, as he posted an excited message to his followers after taping the show.
“Man, what a surreal day. Such a great day on set for [SNL],” he wrote. “JJ Watt is a hell of a dude and funny too. Y’all are in for a treat Saturday night. See ya then!”

This is the second appearance Luke’s made recently that has garnered a lot of attention. Back at the CMAs, he accepted the Male Vocalist of the Year award and the crowd erupted in cheers—which some thought were boos.
Thankfully, the audience was actually shouting his name, so it wasn’t a big deal in the end. Let us know what you think about Luke and his performances in the comments!
