Lucy Hale Admits to Covering a Hickey, Is All of Us

She may have played a Pretty Little Liar on-screen, but the truth Lucy Hale tells about having to cover a hickey is all too relateable.

Hickeys—are we right guys?

Chances are, you've had to deal with covering one up, thanks to the moves of a hookup in years past that got a little too bold, leaving us to our own devices, which usually consisted of concealer and a makeup sponge. We'd lie about it, sure, just to avoid being called out by our friends, but both the hickey and the fact that you could completely see it remained.

Though Lucy Hale played a Pretty Little Liar on-screen, the star told the truth with her all-too-relateable struggle of doing just that on Ellen DeGeneres's Ellen's show Me More Show on YouTube. During a round of "Never Have I Ever" with her Pretty Little Liars castmates, the group was prompted with, "Never have I ever had to cover up a hickey." Though Hale, Shay Mitchell, and Troian Bellisario all raised their signs to say they had, Lucy was the only one who began to elaborate.

"Was it for work? Or was it to not have a parent know?" she was asked.

"Both, actually," Hale said. "I've got very sensitive skin."

Oh girl, we've been there. A piece of advice we wish we could have given our younger selves would be to learn the basics of color-correction. You know how applying concealer alone over a hickey sometimes causes it to look more purple? A yellow color corrector like Maybelline's ($6; ulta.com) can help to lift and cancel out those tones. Blend over the area in question, then apply your concealer over the top, and seal in with a setting powder.

When in doubt, you can always work a turtleneck.
