Lt. Col. Amy Lee named principal of Georgia Military College Prep School

Georgia Military College (GMC) Preparatory School has appointed a new principal.

Lt. Col. Amy Lee, who has occupied various positions in the GMC community for the past 18 years, will assume her role effective immediately.

GMC is an independent liberal arts college in Milledgeville that was established in 1879. GMC Prep School is an extension of the college that caters to students in grades K-12 from Baldwin and surrounding counties, and offers a college-prep academic program and Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) for grades 9-12.

“I am honored to have been chosen to lead Georgia Military College Prep School as its new principal,” said Lee in a press release. “I am committed to building on the school’s legacy of providing our students with the highest quality education and prepare them to become leaders in their communities and beyond.

“I am excited to continue working with our exceptional faculty and staff to provide our students with the tools they need to succeed.”

Lee completed her teaching internship and practicums at GMC Prep School before progressing to Georgia College & State University to earn her master of arts in teaching in 2005. After graduating, she returned to GMC Prep School to teach high school English.

Lee received numerous honors during her time as a GMC Prep School instructor, including teacher of the year, STAR teacher, and character educator of the year.

After 14 years of teaching, Lee was moved into the role of assistant principal and curriculum director in 2019. Two years later, in 2021, she became GMC Prep School’s associate principal, and in early 2023 she was named interim principal.

Caldwell, IV, president of Georgia Military College, in a press release. “LTC Lee’s dedication to student success and her leadership experience makes her the ideal candidate to lead our Prep School. She has already proven herself to be a strong leader and we are confident that she will lead the school to even greater success in the years to come.”
