A 'Love It Or List It' Homeowner Called Hilary Farr a 'Bully' and It's Upsetting

• Love It Or List It host Hilary Farr did not make a homeowner happy after telling her she couldn't renovate their sunroom.

• The woman ended up calling Hilary "a bit of a bully" which didn't go over well with viewers.

Hilary Farr and David Visentin have been battling it out on Love It Or List It for years. But on a recent episode of the HGTV show, Hilary took a break from David and went head-to-head with a homeowner instead.

Melissa and John were the latest couple featured on the series, and seemed to be on opposite ends of the coin. Melissa wanted to buy a new home, while John was hoping to stay in their current build. Enter Hilary and David, the former of whom went to work on renovating their original house with a $95,000 budget.

Naturally, this was not enough cash to give Melissa and John everything on their wish list. Hilary suggested the pair cut out the sunroom, and focus instead on updating the kitchen, office, a bathroom, and their sons’ rooms. Though Melissa reluctantly agreed, she was not pleased that the sunroom was getting skipped.

“That seems weird, right? To spend all the money on the house but then not do anything in the sunroom? I don’t really like that,” she said to her husband after she was out of Hilary’s earshot. “I don’t know. We’ll see what Hilary can do, but she was a bit of a bully.”

Viewers did not take too kindly to Melissa calling Hilary a “bully” and said as much on social media.

Though she didn’t say it directly to Hilary, the longtime host knew something was amiss.

“I am being second-guessed every inch of the way by Melissa. She’s not even remotely convinced that this is the plan that she wants,” Hilary noted. “It’s bubbling under the surface, Melissa is definitely not 100% on board here.”

Hilary has dealt with tons of homeowners throughout the years, though, so it doesn’t seem like she took it to heart. Plus, Melissa ended up coming around once she saw her new kitchen.

“Hilary, I had no idea we could ever have this kind of kitchen. I only saw this in the new builds, I am shocked and thrilled. And I’m sorry for giving you a hard time about it,” Melissa said.

It wasn’t enough to convince her to stay, though, as Melissa and John ended up listing anyways. You can’t win ‘em all!
