Ont. man has 3 things in mind after unusual email leads to $105K Lotto Max win
A man from Markham, Ont., is still processing the reality of being the winner of the Oct. 11 Lotto Max draw.
Bohan Ye was floored by his luck when he found out. The 25-year-old, who bought the lucky ticket at OLG.ca, learned of his winnings from an email that looked unusual compared to others that have popped into his inbox.
“I saw an email from OLG and it looked different from the ones I’ve received in the past,” he recalled. “When I opened it and saw ‘Big Winner’ and the amount, I was so surprised!”
Ye’s total earnings from the Lotto Max second prize are worth $105,716.70, after he matched six out of seven numbers, to go along with the bonus number.
There were no first prize winners. The winning numbers were 03, 19, 33, 36, 39, 40, 42 and bonus number 44.
The first person Ye chose to call was his dad, who approached the good news differently than he had initially.
“My dad was so calm about it, I couldn’t believe it,” he said.
As for what Ye will do with the big pot, he says he intends to donate some of the winnings to charity, as well as pay off his tuition. When it comes to fun investments, Ye plans to buy a new car.
“I never thought I would win,” he said. “This is unbelievable.”
