‘Lost in Space’ Star Mina Sundwall Spills the Deets on Season 2

Christmas Eve is extra special this year. Not only are we getting a visit from Santa Claus but it’s also the day Netflix’s hit show, Lost in Space, releases season 2.

While promoting the new season, LIS star Mina Sundwall took some time to talk exclusively with PureWow and revealed what viewers can expect this time around.

“Well, we start the season seven months after last season left off,” Sundwall said. “And so, there’s been a period of time where the Robinsons have been on one planet, they’ve been making do on this methane gas water planet and because of that, the children have grown up—because of and in spite of—the need for survival.”

The 18-year-old actress also opened up about her character Penny and her growth from the first season.

“Most of it has to do with the fact that she’s slowly finding her place in the family. She’s finding what she’s good at and how to use it for the benefit of everybody,” she said. “She’s not a science-oriented person like the rest of her family, and last season she definitely felt like she couldn’t contribute, or she didn’t have a place. She never had a job because she couldn’t handle it. She didn’t know what to do.”

If you aren’t aware the sci-fi series is set 30 years in the future and centers on the Robinson family—a seemingly normal clan who’s selected to try their hand at colonizing a new world. But the aspiring colonists get lost on their way to their new extraterrestrial home and must work together to survive their dangerous new environment that’s light-years away from their original destination.

Toby Stephens (Black Sails) and Molly Parker (House of Cards) star as the Robinson parents, John and Maureen. Their children—Judy, Penny and Will—are played by Taylor Russell (Falling Skies), Sundwall (Maggie’s Plan) and Max Jenkins (Sense8), respectively.

We can’t wait to binge this one during the holidays.
