If you consider yourself an onion ring connoisseur of sorts, you're probably no stranger to what used to be singer Lorde's secret Instagram account dedicated to the golden fried vegetable. After press leaked that it was indeed her who ran the account in 2017, however, she stopped posting her reviews and left fans wondering if we'd ever get the chance to see nothing but crispy golden rings roll across our timelines again. Well, (the) Lorde must have heard our cries because she's back to posting and this time, it seems as if she's here to stay.
Taking to the @onionringsworldwide Instagram account on Monday, April 26, the "Royals" singer posted two photos in a slideshow displaying her return to the onion ring throne. "Yoosh lads back with another ring post... these were from the Hotel Ponsonby establishment, we’re talking PICKLED onion rings which is a first for this reviewer," she captioned the post.
Rating the experience a "4/5 overall ringsperience," she pointed out that it was the sensational batter that stood out the most to her and is quite possibly the best she's ever tried. Now, while I'm almost positive that the Hotel Ponsonby was the most excited to see the review of their now famous onion rings, fans of Lorde were equally excited to see the account—which had a brief revival in December 2020 that explained the long hiatus—back in action.
"This was the best photo to open this app to <33," one commenter sweetly stated. "She's really giving us everything but the album," another one said while the official MTV account comically wrote, "honestly forgot I followed this account."
So, while onion rings are definitely worth talking about, it seems as if fans are more concerned about when to expect new music as they've been deprived since 2017's Melodrama release. Until that happens though, onion rings and her memoir Going South will have to hold everyone over.
