Lonzo Ball began hobbling during the third quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers contest against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. He was immediately removed from the game and seen on the bench with a wrap covering his left leg. The Lakers diagnosed Ball with left knee contusion. That left knee is the same one that forced Ball to miss six weeks of the season after he sprained his MCL in January.

It couldn’t have happened at a worse time for the Lakers. Back up point guard, Isaiah Thomas also announced that he’d be undergoing arthroscopic hip surgery on Thursday. Los Angeles will likely take their time with Ball, considering he’s aggravated his left knee multiple times this season and the Lakers have nothing to play for, but moral victories. Ball and Thomas’ respective injuries leaves the Lakers thin at point guard, however, Brandon Ingram has shown himself to be capable of filling in as a stop-gap.
Ball had scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting and distributed five assists in 24 minutes before injuring his left knee.
