Netflix's brand new mystery-thriller The Watcher has officially got everybody *hooked*. Based on a true story, the series follows the Brannock family, who move into their dream house only to be met with a series of ominous letters.
The show has jumped straight to the No.1 spot in Netflix's UK Top 10, with fans becoming increasingly invested in the IRL events - from the mysterious case that inspired the series, to where the real family are now.
As for the eerie house dominating the show, there's another burning question: who actually lives at 657 Boulevard now?
Who lives in the Watcher house now?
To recap, The Watcher's Brannock family are inspired by the real-life Derek and Maria Broaddus. They purchased 657 Boulevard in Westfield, New Jersey in 2014. Before moving in with their three children, the couple began work on the property - which is when they received their first letter from The Watcher.
As they were renovating, the family received two more letters, with their story told in a 2018 article by The Cut. They involved the police and a private detective, however investigations ended and The Watcher was never identified.
Six months after they received the first letter the Broadduses put 657 Boulevard up for sale. Five years later in 2019 the house eventually sold for $959,000, at $400,000 less than Derek and Maria had bought it for in 2014.
So, who bought 657 Boulevard and who lives in The Watcher house now?
According to New Jersey news outlet NJ.com, the purchase deed was filed under the names Andrew and Allison Carr. However, the couple have never spoken out publicly about the house or the Watcher case.
As reported by The Cut, the Broaddus family asked their real estate attorney to pass on a note to the new owners after the house was sold. It read, "We wish you nothing but the peace and quiet that we once dreamed of in this house."
The couple also apparently gave the new family a photo of one of The Watcher's letters, so they could identify the writing in the event that they received letters of their own. So far, it's thought the new owners have not received any letters.
The Watcher is streaming now on Netflix.
