The Met gala 2021 is happening—albeit four months later than normal. Instead of the first Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit is going down this year the second Monday in September. The COVID-19 pandemic postponed fashion’s biggest night (in 2020 it outright canceled it), but the show is still going on.
So what can we expect? A Blake Lively Met gala dress like the pink one she wore in 2016? A Blake Lively Met gala 2018 moment (i.e., red, dramatic, and Versace)? Can you tell I want Blake Lively to attend the Met gala this year? Please, Blake Lively, attend the Met gala!
Whether she’s there or not, the Met gala 2021 will surely be star-studded. If you’re a commoner like me, though, you’ll be enjoying the festivities from home in sweat pants. Thankfully, a Met gala stream is happening, so you won’t miss a single moment.
Below, check out all the ways you can watch the Met gala this year.

“In the end, it’s for our guests, and it’s for the museum,” Anna Wintour, a chairwoman of the event and Vogue editor in chief, told Today in 2019 about the Met gala. “We want them to feel that the amazing effort they put into getting dressed was worth it, and it was an evening they’re maybe not going to experience elsewhere.”
She added, “I honestly believe the people are excited [about the Met gala] as it’s an extraordinary marriage of fashion and culture. We don't want [the Met] to become a mausoleum. We want it to be alive and vibrant and bring in new audiences and have people excited about being there.”
