A Little Girl's Quarantine Meltdown Is Really Resonating With People
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has a lot of us feeling like we’re missing out even if it’s for a good reason—and one little girl has gone viral after letting it all out in a very relatable meltdown.
In the video, shared by Twitter user @Ngu_Spesh, a five-year-old little girl by the name of Blake expresses her ongoing frustration over restaurant shutdowns, the lack of fun in the world these days, and germs (“Why would germs come around to people if they don’t want germs to come around?”). She can’t go inside at McDonald’s, her favorite restaurant, the ice cream truck is closed, and “everything that is fun has to be shutdown.”

“The only thing that is open is nothing!” she shouts at one point, which feels very true. When she says, “It’s just really frustrating!” it’s nearly impossible to watch without nodding your head in agreement. As the pandemic rages on in the U.S., restaurants close and reopen and close again, as lockdown orders come and go, this is one incredibly relatable grievance, which is why the tiny tirade has spread across social media:
Oh my hecks, I love this sweetie so much. WE HAVE ALL BEEN YOU AT SOME POINT IN THE LAST 3+ MONTHS. https://t.co/lvkHHN8jL6

“And the only thing that is open is nothing” is my new motto for 2020. https://t.co/bbk9Nn3dk1

This is the most appropriate and mature response to the pandemic I’ve see. https://t.co/SXj0KQlxl3

This lady gets it. Germs are germs. They make people sick. It’s not fair when everything fun is shut down but germs make people sick. So no ice cream with gum balls. 😔 https://t.co/Ab994KuESZ

I think I ghostwrote this speech https://t.co/Hw5vTeN3Og

While the tiny human was impressive and impassioned, so were her parents who let her vent her frustrations, listened to her complaints, and seemed to value her voice, all of which drew the attention of Twitter, too.
Pay attention to the thoughtful parenting here, too. Let’s listen to our kids - and be present for them when they express their feelings and frustrations. https://t.co/QFNEK5fmea

I really can’t stop watching this over and over again. They really gave her room to vent and just flow thru her emotions and by the end of the spiel she was calm and subdued. Validating vulnerability as something that is okay early on is pretty clutch https://t.co/FWn9rUGG5J
