Last night, Ke Huy Quan won for Best Supporting Actor at the 2023 Oscars for his role as Waymond Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
The award — and larger recognition for his acting abilities — have been a long time coming. After initially scoring roles as a child actor in classics like The Goonies and Indiana Jones, Quan struggled to find work. Then, in the early aughts, he decided to step away from acting altogether. It wasn't until the release of Crazy Rich Asians that he felt inspired to return.
