Lindt–aka the brand behind your favorite sultry commercials and your favorite truffles–has slowly but surely been coming for Nutella with its own hazelnut spread. It launched the product in a few European countries before it hit the U.K. two years ago. Now, the jars are available in Australia, so it’s only a matter of time before they get on Nutella’s level or even surpass it (if that’s possible!).
If you’re more of an equal-nut-to-chocolate ratio type of person, you’ll easily turn into a Lindt hazelnut spread fanatic. Lindt’s jars of the stuff are made with 40 percent hazelnuts, whereas Nutella’s spread only has 13 percent. If you prefer more chocolate, you might want to stick with Nutella. But if you really want all the chocolate, Lindt also sells a cocoa spread for all of your sweet needs. It’s made of dark chocolate with only a hint of hazelnut. Either way, the chocolatier has you covered on both ends of the spectrum.
If you have the misfortune of not being in one of the countries Lindt’s spreads are currently sold in, you can still get ahold of them. Fortunately, it doesn’t involve smuggling them in! You can order both the hazelnut and cocoa spreads on Lindt’s website. They're available for $7.99 each for 7.1-ounce jars. It's definitely a bit pricier than your $3, 7.7-ounce jar of Nutella from Target. Is it worth it? Only one way to find out.
