Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson Opted to Leave 'Dancing With the Stars'

From Good Housekeeping

When the Dancing With the Stars season 29 cast was announced earlier this summer, two names were notably missing from the pro dancer roster: Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson.

Lindsay joined the show in 2013 and went on to win four years later in season 25 when paired up with Jordan Fisher. Meanwhile, Witney also has an impressive record on Dancing With the Stars since first coming on in season 18 just one year after her show debut, she and Alfonso Ribeiro claimed the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

Given their success, it may have come as a shock to fans when their names weren't included on the cast list.

Where are Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson on Dancing With the Stars season 29?

Turns out, there's a good reason for their departures — both are expecting! Lindsay and her husband, Sam Cusick, first made their pregnancy announcement back in mid-May. According to the post, Lindsay is due sometime in November.

A little over two months later, Witney and her hubby, Carson McAllister, also shared that they were going to have a baby. With Entertainment Tonight, Witney revealed that her due date is in January.

"I actually found out I was pregnant the week after she [Lindsay] told me," Witney said. "It is so special. I mean, honestly, she has been so great through this process. We were talking yesterday, and I'm like, 'So you're kind of the guinea pig.' She's like, 'I'm fine, I'll try it out first and let you know how it goes.' But it's been so fun."

As for when the two might return to the show, Lindsay told Entertainment Tonight that she definitely plans on getting back to the ballroom as soon as possible.

"I will not be dancing this season, but I am hoping to be a part of the show in other ways that I can be," she said. "I'll have our baby in November, which gives me about 10 months to have time with the little babe, and then get back into shape and get back into dancing to hopefully be back around for the next fall season."

Meanwhile, although Witney isn't due until early next year, she ultimately decided to sit this season out, especially given the added risks posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

"I just don't think it's ultimately safe for me to participate. So I will not be joining this season," Witney told ET. "It's just so hard with COVID-19, we don't really know what's happening there. And I'd be pretty big. I'd be about 24 weeks, which is, like, I'd have a belly."

That said, we're sure the show will welcome them back with open arms when both moms-to-be are ready to put on their dancing shoes once again.
