The Internet has been dying to see what all the hype around Sam Levinson (a.k.a. the creator of Euphoria) and his latest project, The Idol, is all about — and Cannes Film Festival goers just got a first look at the controversial show. Lily Rose Depp, who plays the ingenue role of Jocelyn, attended the Cannes premiere of the HBO series on May 23rd and continued her Chanel streak in a mini dress with immaculate pop star vibes.

Lily Rose Depp has worn Chanel to a lot of events (like the iconic, Tiktok-beloved Chanel Fall 1994 dress she wore to the 2019 Met Gala) and she continued to show love to her go-to brand for The Idol's premiere. The actress looked like a vintage dream in a mini dress covered in black sequins, featuring a blue satin camellia flower embellishing the strapless neckline. Small buttons dotted the front of her dress leading to a subtle black bow around her waist.

Lily wore paper-thin sheer gloves that reached past her elbows, as well as sheer black tights underneath her dress.

For the afterparty, Lily changed into another Chanel sequin number. The mini dress from the brand's most recent Resort 2023 collection was decked out in subtle, multi-colored sequins, as well as thick black straps and a straight-across neckline.

Lily opted to keep her sheer black tights and black heels from her previous look, and took her wavy blonde hair out of the loose updo that it was previously in.

The Idol received a five-minute standing ovation at Cannes, but the show has been met with mixed reviews from wider audiences. Critics have commented on the use of explicit material and shock factor throughout the show intended to portray the misogynistic side of the pop industry, while others have praised Levinson's stylistic choices. The Idol currently has a 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

As for wardrobe, we think Lily deserves a 100% on her red carpet costuming. If you're shopping for LBDs and sequin minis but aren't ballin' on a Chanel budget, keep scrolling to see our favorite similar dresses inspired by Lily Rose Depp's red carpet style.
