Lily Aldridge Walked Brandon Maxwell's Spring 2019 Runway Show Five Months Pregnant

Fashion Week runways have seen a refreshing surge in body diversity over the last few seasons, with designers like Chromat and Christian Siriano featuring a broader range of body sizes and shapes in their shows than what fashion fans have come to expect over the years. And while this weekend's Brandon Maxwell Spring 2019 runway was populated with tall, slender models, one model, Lily Aldridge, struck a different silhouette: that of a pregnant woman.

Aldridge joined other models like Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, and Joan Smalls in the presentation, wearing a long, red, body-hugging dress that clearly displayed the shape of her baby bump. She looked stunning with her minimal makeup and middle-parted hair pulled back and held in place by a golden B-shaped corkscrew — something she probably won't have much use for over the next few months as she awaits the birth of her second child.

"So proud to walk the @brandonmaxwell runway 5 months pregnant," Aldridge said on Instagram, alongside a multi-photo post showing her on the runway and backstage. "I’ve walked few runways in my life and this is a moment that I’ll look back on forever with great emotion ❤️ Thank you Brandon for letting my shine & being such a true gentleman, Love you FOREVER!!!"

Aldridge went on to thank the team that helped pull the show together: "Thank you @georgecortina for making me feel so beautiful 💋 makeup by my love @tompecheux & hair by the sweetest @jamespecis ⚡️ @mr_stephengalloway from pumping me up before the runway 💃🏽 And love to all the amazing powerful girls casted in the show by @johndavidpfeiffer 💋 It was so much fun being backstage will all the girls, everyone was so uplifting and rubbing my belly celebrating this beautiful journey with me," she said, and one of the photos in her post shows exactly that — Bella Hadid touching her tummy backstage as she looks absolutely elated. "Nothing but Empowerment at Brandon Maxwell❤️❤️❤️❤️"

This isn't the first time Aldridge has walked a runway pregnant. When she announced her first pregnancy in December 2011, mathematical sleuths figured out that she was two months pregnant when she walked in the Victoria's Secret show a month earlier. In fact, she was one of two pregnant Angels in that particular show; Alessandra Ambrosio was also pregnant.

This also isn't the first time a pregnant model has appeared on a Fashion Week runway, of course. The short but (literally) growing list includes Jacquetta Wheeler in the Fall 2015 Temperley show, Bianca Balti in the Fall 2015 Dolce & Gabbana show, and Jourdan Dunn in the Spring 2011 Jean Paul Gaultier show.
