From Women's Health

Lili Reinhart is a mere 24 years old and yet she's already in season four as the lead of a hit series (Riverdale, ICYMI), starred in three films (the most recent of which is Chemical Hearts, which she also executive produced, nbd), and recently became the face of Covergirl's new clean makeup line. But don't be fooled into thinking that this all came easy for the young actress. Though she started acting when she was just 14, she almost gave up the idea all together when she first moved to LA at 18. She reveals her depression got so bad that she moved back to be with her family in North Carolina for six months before going back to try again. Luckily, round two was successful and she ended up landing her gig on Riverdale only one month after returning.

Lili has been very open about the importance of mental health and while she's now back in Canada to finish up filming Riverdale, she shared with Women's Health how she kept sane with all of her extra free time in quarantine. "My whole life has kind of revolved around acting, performing, putting on a show, playing a character. And I think, oftentimes, just me—who I am in my heart and soul—kind of gets put on the back burner a little bit," says Lili. "But when the pandemic happened, I finally had the time to catch up with myself and my emotions. I’ve been reading a lot of self-help books and what I’ve really been picking up from all of them is how important it is to let yourself feel what you’re feeling."

She confesses that she's "really bad at meditating" but another way she addresses her feelings is through writing. "Whether it’s poetry or just journaling, just kind of getting my thoughts out there," the actress shared with Women's Health. (You can also find her poetry in her new book Swimming Lessons, debuting later this month.) "I’ve really tried to just feel what I’m going through. It sounds so simple, but a lot of people don’t do that. It’s hard to sit with a bad feeling. But if you ignore it it will be waiting for you at the end of the day."

Beyond her hidden talent of being a poet, something else you may not have known about Lili is that she's really into beauty and even considered going into special effects makeup if acting hadn't worked out (peep one of her looks below). Luckily, the acting route ended up working out just fine for Lili but she did share some current beauty and skincare faves.

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

“I use it to remove mascara or eye makeup. I get this one from my mom because she has really sensitive eyes and this always worked for her.”

Covergirl Easy Breezy Brow

“If I do one thing before I go out it’s filling in my brows.”

Olaplex Hair Protector No. 3

“Throughout the pandemic I’ve been enjoying letting my hair breathe and take a break from heat. Per my hair colorist I’ve been sleeping in this hair mask twice a week.”

Renée Rouleau Rapid Response Detox Masque and Triple Berry Smoothing Peel

“Renee has been like a saving grace for my skin. I use this combo every time I travel because it keeps my skin in check when I’m stressed, when I’m traveling, when I’m filming, I’ll use it like maybe twice a week.”
