Like every other divorcing dad, Donald Trump Jr. is getting a makeover

Getting fit and finding a new look post-breakup is a trope as old as failed relationships, for both men and women. And first son Donald Trump Jr. is no different than anyone else, as recent posts to his Instagram account show.

Saturday afternoon, the father of five shared a sweaty photo of himself from Mar-a-Lago, where he’s been spending Easter with his children. He wrote “Nothing like Crossfit in 100% humidity.”

Don Jr. may be taking a page from Khloé Kardashian and working on his revenge body, or he may be trying to boost his confidence and endorphins through exercise. There’s no denying the high you get after a good sweat session, and an endorphin rush can bring about a sense of euphoria and well-being, which can be crucial after a breakup. They are considered natural painkillers because they activate opioid receptors in the brain that help minimize discomfort. J. Kip Matthews, a sports psychologist, told CNN that “Endorphins are also involved in natural reward circuits related to activities such as feeding, drinking, sexual activity, and maternal behavior.”

The president’s son also shared a photo later on Saturday, where he’s getting a haircut with a somewhat stoic expression on his face. He shared on the image that he was getting rid of his “mullet” a hairstyle he’s had on and off since stepping into the public eye.

Changing your hair can be a big statement. It may mean you are trying to signify a metamorphosis. It may actually make you feel like a new person.

The past two weeks have seen one negative story after another making headlines, from one about model Melissa Stetten posting a flirty Twitter Trump Jr. sent to her in 2011 to another about allegations he treated wife Vanessa like a second-class citizen. In light of what seems to be an ugly breakup, including persistent rumors of an alleged affair with singer Aubrey O’Day, Trump Jr. may want to feel like a new person.

Or — considering he highlighted these images on the main page of his Instagram — he may be attepting to change the narrative around some very bad press.
