Liam Hemsworth Is Wearing a Promise Ring for Miley Cyrus
That explains it! Speculation surrounding Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s relationship reached fever pitch last week when the Australian actor was photographed wearing a band on his left ring finger–but the stars haven’t exchanged vows just yet.
According to E! News, the band is symbolic of Hemsworth’s shared future with the “Malibu” singer. “He wears that ring as more of a ‘promise’ to Miley, but they are not officially married,” an insider said this week. “The only thing that is missing is the legal piece of paper. The pair is not focused on planning a wedding at this time. They are more focused on making their love as strong as possible.”

Hemsworth was snapped bonding outdoors with Tish Cyrus at the family’s home in Kentucky. In numerous interviews, Tish has said that she’d love to help plan her daughter’s future wedding, but there likely won’t be an event of that sort within the upcoming year.
“She is not eloping. She is not getting married. They are so freaking happy and living in Malibu,” she told Mario Lopez in June. “She’s so happy, and she’s always like, ‘I don’t know why everybody wants us to get married. It’s so perfect.’”
“She’s 24… She’s got time,” she concluded.

The Cyrus family patriarch has also presented his thoughts on his daughter’s on-again engagement to Hemsworth. “Miley and I, we always had this slogan—’If you ain’t happy, it ain’t working,'” Billy Ray Cyrus previously told E! “Just seeing these—I still call ’em kids—these two kids happy, that’s all that matters.”
Cyrus and Hemsworth reconciled in early 2016 after breaking off their engagement in 2013. “I needed to change so much, and changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard,” the Grammy winner told Billboard in May. “Suddenly you’re like, ‘I don’t recognize you anymore.’ We had to re-fall for each other.”
Hemsworth has also shared his side of the story, telling GQ Australia in 2016: “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time, we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time – we both needed that.”
