Le'Veon Bell says his shoulder is fine after MRI gives scare to Jets fans

The New York Jets’ season might already be in shambles with Sam Darnold contracting mononucleosis and the team blowing a 16-0 second-half lead against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, but they at least managed to get some good news on Thursday.

Star running back Le’Veon Bell announced on Twitter that the shoulder MRI which had sparked worries about his availability this week was merely precautionary, and revealed no problems.

The announcement backs up an earlier report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The initial news of Bell’s shoulder MRI sparked worries that his health was in doubt this week and beyond, but it sounds like he’ll be good to go for “Monday Night Football” against the Cleveland Browns.

Bell looked solid in his Jets debut on Sunday, posting 60 rushing yards and 32 receiving yards with a receiving touchdown. Given that it was Bell’s first NFL game since January 2018 and that the team held him out for all of preseason as a precaution, there could be reason to believe he gets even better going forward as he shakes off the rust.

Jets still dealing with turbulence

Don’t let Bell’s health make you think the Jets are back on track. The team’s season is still off to an awful start.

The Jets are 0-1 after a loss against a division rival. Their star quarterback, who was supposed to have a breakout year, will likely be out for weeks with a rare illness when it comes to football players.

The team just signed its fourth kicker after letting Pro Bowler Jason Myers walk in free agency. Defensive stars C.J. Mosley (groin) and Quinnen Williams (ankle) both missed practice on Thursday and could be in doubt for Monday. The guy who signed and drafted nearly every player of note on this roster has already been fired.

Oh, and the New England Patriots still exist.

Bell’s health ensures the team will have at least one of its most important players on the field Monday, but that’s still some pretty tough sledding.
