Lena Dunham is brilliant and hilarious. I don't even watch Girls (sorry!), and I know this. She's an outspoken feminist who continues to blaze trails for not just women in entertainment, but women everywhere. But because the Internet is a garbage fire, anonymous trolls don't want to focus on Dunham's accomplishments. Instead, they obsess about her weight. Still. Dunham has made it clear in the past that she doesn't care what people think and usually just ignores the haters. However, because the new infatuation with Dunham's body is tied to her endometriosis, she felt compelled to speak up. (It's endometriosis awareness month, so props, Lena).

In a lengthy Instagram post, Dunham epically shut down everyone who wants to put in their two-cents about her weight. Not that it matters, but Dunham says her current weight loss is related to her endometriosis—and she wants us to know it's not because of Hollywood pressure.

“I feel I've made it pretty clear over the years that I don't give even the tiniest of shits what anyone else feels about my body," Dunham wrote. "I've gone on red carpets in couture as a size 14. I've done sex scenes days after surgery, mottled with scars. I've accepted that my body is an ever changing organism, not a fixed entity—what goes up must come down and vice versa. I smile just as wide no matter my current size because I'm proud of what this body has seen and done and represented. Chronic illness sufferer. Body-shaming vigilante. Sexual assault survivor. Raging hottie. Just like all of YOU."

The HBO star then took an opportunity to specifically address her endometriosis-related weight loss. "Right now I'm struggling to control my endometriosis through a healthy diet and exercise," Dunham wrote. "So my weight loss isn't a triumph and it also isn't some sign I've finally given in to the voices of trolls. Because my body belongs to ME – at every phase, in every iteration, and whatever I'm doing with it, I'm not handing in my feminist card to anyone."

She ended her badass post with a plea to everyone to stop obsessing so much about the number on a scale. "I refuse to celebrate these bullshit before-and-after pictures," she penned. "Don't we have infinitely more pressing news to attend to? So much love to all my web friends who demand that life be more than a daily weigh in, who know their merit has nothing to do with their size, who fight to be seen and heard and accepted." See the whole post, here.

Lena Dunham makes several excellent points in this post, but the most important one is between the lines: Your opinion on other people's looks doesn't matter at all. You never know what someone is going through, and it's wrong to make assumptions based on a quick glance. We're all so much more than an Instagram photo.
