While NBA teams were denied the Christmas Day jerseys they’ve gotten used to being adorned in during the Adidas apparel era, their fans were opening gifts, some of which were their favorite players’ more vanilla Nike jerseys. While the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have spent much of the past four seasons jockeying for NBA supremacy on the court, including the latest edition of their rivalry on Monday, off the court fans have drawn battle lines between players from both teams.

As you can imagine, there isn’t a large cross-section of Warriors and Cavs fans. One LeBron superfan epitomized the divide that’s been created by the rivalry between the two teams. When 9-year-old LeBron fan Julian Hernandez thought he’d unwrapped a Steph Curry Warriors jersey, his sullen expression was the embodiment of the “Arthur fist” meme.

Ultimately, James’ jersey was found to be folded underneath the Curry uni and all was right in the world again.
