From Kelly Clarkson’s off-camera chattiness to Blake Shelton’s colorful use of words, fans got a sneak peek into the silly reality of four of the world’s most revered TV judges.

Now that the knockout rounds have come to a close on The Voice, it’s time to gear up for the live shows, which are set to air on Monday, May 4. While many fans wonder how the shows will go on due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Voice deemed it best to take a trip down memory lane in the meantime.

On Monday, April 27, The Voice highlighted all the best moments of the spring 2020 season. While the special showcased the full journeys of all the finalists, it was the behind-the-scenes footage and outtakes that brought us the most joy.

Ahead, discover what we learned about Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Nick Jonas.

The Kelly Clarkson Show is rubbing off on Kelly's The Voice persona.

In a behind-the-scenes clip, the 38-year-old singer is seen talking up a storm. From admitting that she didn’t think she’d be crying as much to sharing her favorite coffee, it’s no wonder the other coaches commented on her chattiness. “I think Kelly being a talk show host is starting to bleed over into The Voice,” Blake said, adding that she spends a lot of time talking to the audience. “She has no filter,” John jokingly concluded.

Blake uses his own personal dictionary.

Ever notice how Blake Shelton has quite a way with words? According to a behind-the-scenes look at Team Blake, his fellow coaches joke on him for his quirky take on the English language. Where John jokes that it’s singular, Nick thinks that he tries to find ways to throw words in that no one ever uses. Nevertheless, Blake thinks his speaking is spot-on. “I don’t make up words—I rediscover words,” he says. “That’s what I do. I’m a wordsmith.”

Nick's niece was the 4-chair turn audition you missed this season.

Like all of The Voice judges, Nick took to Twitter to share a clip in prep for the Road to Live Shows. Only, unlike his co-stars, his video shared the 4-chair turn we all missed from this season. In the clip, his niece Alena is seen sitting on her couch with a The Voice background behind her. There, she sings a song she wrote as Nick, Kelly, and John immediately turn for her, while Blake takes a tad longer to do so. In other words, it’s a heart-warming play on everything we love about this show.

John Legend is a phenomenal chair-dancer.

As if you needed us to tell you, right? The 41-year-old singer is perpetually moving to the beat during all of The Voice performances. “John is definitely a frustrated dancer at heart, I think, and I’m a frustrated watcher of John’s dancing because his dancing sucks,” Blake says. “He literally looks like an old man trying to dance in his chair. But, according to John, there’s a reason for his stellar seated moves. “I think because I’m a pianist, my whole life has been dancing in my chair and so when I’m in my Voice chair, I’m always dancing,” he says.

The coaches fight like family, and love to pick on ‘little brother’ Nick.

As much as The Voice judges love each other, there’s no denying that the foursome fights like family. While each of the judges knows how to get under the other’s skin, it seems Kelly, John, and Blake particularly enjoy ribbing Nick. “We definitely tease each other a lot—we’re all picking on Nick like a little brother,” John shares.

The coaches take their pre-show pump up music very seriously.

Just like athletes warm up with their favorite tunes, so do The Voice judges. Most notably (and, TBH, most adorably), Blake pumps himself up by singing his girlfriend Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” while dancing and watching himself in the mirror.
