This September, Lea Michele is set to live out one of her long-held dreams by taking on the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway. The star, who has spoken openly in the past about her desire to star in a Broadway revival of the show, celebrated the news over the weekend by sharing a post to her Instagram in which she recreated a behind-the-scenes moment from her years on the hit TV show Glee.

"A dream come true," she wrote in the caption of a duo of photos—one of herself under the marquee at the August Wilson theater, where she will take over the lead role from Beanie Feldstein starting September 6, and another of herself in a similar pose under the marquee of the Funny Girl set that appeared in Glee's fifth season when her character Rachel starred in a similar revival.

The life-imitates-art moment has been a long time coming for Michele, who made her Broadway debut at age 8 in Les Miserables and originated the role of Wendla in Spring Awakening when she was still in her teens.

"I did a concert in Central Park," Michele said in 2017. "I did like nine Funny Girl songs and turned to Ryan [Murphy] and I was like, OK, I'm ready to do it. It's a lot of work and it would be an honor to do it. But if I'm going to go back [to Broadway] that's what I'd really like to do."

In fact, the photo wasn't the only throwback Michele posted over the weekend. After her Glee recreation, Michele also shared a photo that brought things full circle: a snap of herself and Jonathan Groff, who not only starred alongside Michele in Spring Awakening but also did his own stint on Glee, in front of the Funny Girl marquee.
