There’s a reason Le Creuset is considered one of the top brands in cookware. The pieces are extremely durable, colorful and all-around top notch. While Le Creuset is known for its colorful enameled cast iron pieces, it also makes stainless steel cookware. And right now, the latter is on sale.
Le Creuset’s stainless steel cookware is now up to 45 percent off on the brand’s website. Unfortunately there’s no word on when the sale ends, but it includes single frying pans, braisers, complete sets and more for upping your game in the kitchen. Plus, you can get free shipping on orders over $99.

Though Le Creuset is famous for its cast iron, there are some serious pros to cooking with stainless steel, like the fact that it's much more lightweight. Le Creuset’s stainless steel cookware has an aluminum core for even heat distribution and a titanium-infused stainless steel exterior that can take on incredibly hot temperatures — even up to 500° F in the oven. According to Le Creuset, the titanium-infused layer also works to resist scorching and corrosion, a commonality with stainless steel cookware.
Keep in mind, however, that stainless steel cookware does not have a nonstick coating. Some people may actually prefer this as many nonstick pans have chemicals in them that could pose toxic when under extreme heat.
Robert L. Wolke, Ph.D., a professor emeritus of chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh and author of “What Einstein Told His Cook: Kitchen Science Explained,” spoke with Good Housekeeping on the topic of Teflon, the chemical compound often used to make nonstick coating on cookware.
“There’s a whole chemistry set of compounds that will come off when Teflon is heated high enough to decompose,” Wolke said. “Many of these are fluorine-containing compounds, which as a class are generally toxic.”
Chemours, the current owner of Teflon (it was previously invented by Dupont in 1938), recommends not heating nonstick pans over 500° F, but says that the nonstick coating will begin to deteriorate at 660° F. (This sounds extremely hot, but a preheated pan can reach this temperature in about 5 minutes.)
