WESTERNS ARE ALL the rage right now. It's a secret to absolutely no one that the flagship Yellowstone series has become one of television's biggest hits in the last half decade, and that show's co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, has parlayed its success into what's essentially a blank check deal with Paramount. He got even more Westerns onto television in the form of Yellowstone spinoffs (1883 and 1923 have already been released and more are on the way), but he's not alone. Prime Video put out a Western with a sci-fi bend called Outer Range, Netflix has a major production called American Primeval in the works, and Yellowstone's lead actor, Kevin Costner, is returning to his roots for an epic, two-part Western film called Horizon: An American Saga.

This is a genre that peaked decades ago, but clearly there's something about our current cultural landscape that's inspiring a comeback (and that's not even counting The Mandalorian, a clear space western, or Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the most popular video games of all time still, and, yes, a Western).

The latest addition to this trend comes from, you guessed it, producer Taylor Sheridan and Paramount+—Lawmen: Bass Reeves, a Western series centered on the titular U.S. Marshal and his adventures in the old West. The cast is led by David Oyelowo (an Oscar nominee for his work in Ava Duvernay's Selma), but also includes heavy hitters like Dennis Quaid, Donald Sutherland, and Shea Whigham in a recurring capacity.

This is a Western for anyone, with a bit of a bonus for history buffs who feel like diving down a classic old west rabbit hole. And in case you're wondering—while Bass Reeves was originally conceived as a spinoff to Sheridan's 1883 series, it's not connected (despite taking place in the same time period).

Here's how you can watch every episode of the exciting new western.
