You don't turn 50 every day, and Laverne Cox seemed determined to celebrate the big half-century in style last weekend. Sporting a bikini from the Fendi x Versace collaboration, Fendace, and a floor-length, sheer cover up, Laverne strutted into the new decade looking strong as ever.

While she was enjoying the Memorial Day sunshine, Laverne shared some steamy poolside reels. She transformed the pool deck into her runway, and showed everyone her long, strong legs and toned abs. Talk about striking a pose!

Both in and out of the water, Laverne proved that 50 is FUN, and that the party is just getting started. To the sounds of “In Da Club,” “Big Energy,” and “Barbie Girl,” Laverne celebrated her Gemini status on Instagram, receiving countless birthday wishes and praise from her fans. “You inspire me and countless others to no end, thank you! Much love on your special day! 🥳🎂🎁," one fan commented.

A transgender actress famous for her roles in Orange is the New Black and Inventing Anna, Laverne is an icon in Hollywood, especially among the LGBTQ+ community. She recently had a Barbie modeled after her—the first transgender doll the company has produced—which explains Laverne’s birthday bash theme.

The actress said the event was “PERFECT” and “unforgettable,” saying that it fulfilled all of her birthday Barbie dreams.

As she approached 50, Laverne said she made a conscious effort to focus on her mental and physical health. Her classical ballet training, which began at a young age, conditioned her to view exercising as a self-critical and demanding task. But with age comes wisdom, and Laverne has a new take on fitness: She works out when and how she wants to.

"I'm not overachieving in fitness at the moment," Laverne told InStyle. "I'm doing it, it's not as high-level, but I like where I'm at with it now. It's fun, it's medicinal, and I'm not being hard on myself."

Laverne vowed to focus on her health during her next half-century. Returning to dance classes created a “process-oriented” way for her to take care of her body, versus the “goal-oriented” method that she felt gym environments encouraged, she told Prevention. “I want to feel good in my body, mind, and spirit.”

And from the looks of it, the dance classes have more than succeeded! “I feel like I’m in the prime of my life,” she told Prevention. “I think I look better than I’ve ever looked, and I’ve evolved so much.”

Happy 50th, Laverne! You are rockin' it!
