Laura Whitmore has opened up about some of her worst dating experiences before meeting her husband.

The 37-year-old TV star, who is currently hosting the latest series of Love Island, revealed some rather terrible romantic encounters before meeting the comedian Iain Stirling in 2016.

Speaking on the Melvin Meets His Match podcast, she said: "I went on a date where the guy made me watch a show he was in on television.

"And I once went out with a guy and he had a picture of himself in his bedroom, just of him, his face...I just thought that was weird."

Whitmore also gave an insight into the early days of her relationship with Iain Stirling, the comedian and voiceover of the ITV2 dating show, who she was introduced to at a party

She revealed that she never stayed at his home because he lived in an "absolute s***hole".

The star recalled: "I went there once and he was mortified."

She explained that he tried to stop her from seeing his "bent bunk bed" when she visited once to pick him up and take him to the airport.

The couple wed in November 2020 at Dublin's City Hall and welcomed their baby daughter Stevie in March 2021.

It comes after Whitmore revealed last year why she loved marrying Stirling in secret.

She said that a small, private ceremony, allowed them to choose their exact, preferred guest list.

Speaking to The Telegraph's Stella magazine, the presenter joked when asked if she fretted about who to include on her big day: "I mean, I’m Irish so, unless the whole country comes to the wedding..."

She added: "It worked out in our favour as a lot of people assumed we did it small because of COVID."
