Laura Dern’s Jurassic Park character, Dr. Ellie Sattler, is and always has been badass—from tending to a sick Triceratops to saving trapped children amidst a T. rex chase—which is why, when the original Jurassic cast reunited for Jurassic World: Dominion, Dern wanted Dr. Sattler to return stronger, wiser, and even more empowered than before. “She’s not some sexy-scientist trope,” the actress recently told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t wear makeup in this movie. She’s real.”

If you can even believe it, Dern’s glow in the new film is au nautrel—thanks to a good amount of survival mode sweat and True Botanicals, a skincare brand she became an ambassador for in 2019. Lucky for us, brand reps revealed to InStyle the three products that got her complexion camera-ready: the Renew Nourishing Cleanser, which is green tea-infused to condition the skin, Renew Pure Radiance Face Oil, a brand best-seller for dryness that Dern calls “magic in a bottle,” and the Moisture Lock Overnight Mask, which is packed with hyaluronic acid, squalene, and mango butter to hydrate and soothe. (In a previous interview with The Cut, Dern also praised the brand’s Chebula Active Serum for reviving dull, tired skin.)

Speaking of sweat, though: The Oscar-winning star revealed to Vanity Fair that she “never imagined” revisiting Dr. Sattler’s shoes, let alone fully committing to stunt work at 55.

“To be in an action movie and doing stunt work at this stage in my life and career is crazy,” she said. “There’s some hardcore running involved in many of my scenes, a lot more than Jurassic Park.” Thankfully, her co-star Chris Pratt helped the whole cast warm up before taking off. “It definitely was more physically challenging, and I really did feel like an action hero!” she added.

The film clearly opened some unexpected doors for Dern and her co-stars, but she’s most excited about the opportunity to work with her original Jurassic Park crew Jeff Goldblum (who plays Dr. Ian Malcom) and Sam Neil (who plays Dr. Alan Grant) again.

“We all got teary and a bit weepy. It was very sweet. I had the time of my life making the original Jurassic Park, and the three of us became a family,” Dern said. “It was so much fun and bliss to work with Sam and Jeff again.”
