While The Last Of Us viewers have been wondering about the five different types of zombies and sucking up all the details they can about season two, they have also been criticising the writers for one specific plot tool.

An adaptation of the 2013 action-adventure game of the same name, The Last Of Us is a post-apocalyptic drama about smuggler Joel (Pedro Pascal), who is tasked with transporting teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across the US. In 2003, a mass fungal infection caused a global pandemic, but Ellie is immune to the infection and could be the key in creating a vaccine.

The show is already five episodes of nine in, and it's safe to say fans are not happy about the amount of their favourite characters who are being killed off. First came Joel's daughter Sarah (Nico Parker), followed by Tess's (Anna Torv) disturbing death. Most recently, Henry (Lamar Johnson) and Sam (Keivonn Woodard) were killed off.

As one fan put it, "The Last Of Us has mastered the 'make you fall in love with a character and killing them that same episode' strategy." Someone else replied, "Every time I hope for a different ending and yet every time I end up disappointed."

Others put, "I’ve decided I will no longer fall for characters that are not Ellie and Joel because wtf" and "They’re so good at it, the writers, directors. I shouldn’t be crying after knowing a character for 30mins."

Someone else added, "At this point I'm gonna assume everyone but Ellie and Joel die (until they eventually die themselves) because wtf."

Someone pass the tissues.

The Last Of Us is now streaming on NOW.
