This Lash Product Dramatically Changed My Beauty Routine

Let's Just Get to the Point:
Eyelash extensions can be pricey (around $200 depending where you live), but boy are they worth every penny, especially if your lashes are blond (and practically nonexistent) like mine. I recently took the Amazing Lash Volume Extensions for a test-drive, and they dramatically changed my routine.

If You Want to Know More:
Different from strip lashes that you apply yourself, lash extensions are tiny synthetic fibers that get adhered to each individual lash to replicate natural eyelashes. They're one of Hollywood's top beauty secrets and one of the easiest ways to give your look—and your routine—an upgrade. In my case, they allowed me to wake up every morning looking instantly bright-eyed. (On a typical day, I won't leave the house without several layers of thick black mascara, and without them, I look half-asleep.

I'd only had lash extensions once before years ago, so when Amazing Lash asked me which of their five styles—Gorgeous, Natural, Sexy, Cute and Amazing Volume—I wanted, I had no idea which one would suit me best, so I took a chance and went with their newest one: Amazing Volume. The process to apply them took about two hours, but I got to lay down and relax—I even fell asleep about 30 minutes in because you have to keep your eyes closed the entire time.

As a contact lens wearer, I was worried my eyes would be irritated, but the brand uses professional-grade adhesive that never touches your skin (only your lashline), so I only experienced a little bit of redness on my upper lids and my eyes were slightly bloodshot. Both went away pretty soon after I left. I was also really surprised at how lightweight and comfortable they felt considering how much longer and thicker they were than my natural lashes.

One thing I didn't love was the after-care, but I've heard it's the same with all types of lash extensions. I couldn't get them wet for the first 48 hours, so I was pretty much limited to washing my face with wipes—I'm not sure about you, but my skin never feels totally clean without a proper rinse—and showering wasn't as easy.

However, not having to remove my mascara at night and waking up with a dark, fluttery fringe was SO worth it. And did I mention they lasted for five weeks without a refill? If I do them again—OK, when I do them again—the only thing I would change is the style. I don't typically wear a ton of makeup in my regular day-to-day, and when I was dressed casual, I felt like my face looked a little too done-up. But, the lashes did slowly fall out here and there with my regular lash growth cycle, so they took on a more subtle look a couple weeks in.

Overall, it was easy to fall in love with these lashes—they had that addictive effect on me, like the way I feel after getting Dysport injections in my forehead and seeing my lines disappear—so, I guess that's what refills are for!
