Lana Del Rey Posted a Bare-Faced Selfie and Fans Are Loving the Switch-Up
Lana Del Rey's go-to beauty look is arguably just as instantly recognizable as her melancholy bops. For years now, she's been seen in hairstyles reminiscent of decades past, with equally retro makeup that makes a dramatic cat eye the main focus. In a selfie posted to Instagram on Friday, however, the 33-year-old singer looks like a fresh-faced teenager, going makeup-free with a low-key lob.
Del Rey didn't include a caption with the photo, which shows her buckled-up in a car, but there was no shortage of comments from her fans — nearly 30,000 as of this post. In response to seeing her glowing skin, liner-free eyes, and seemingly unstyled hair, they raved about this rarely-seen side of the star.
"You look even more beautiful without makeup," one fan wrote. "U are so cute without makeup," echoed another. The makeup-free look was clearly appreciated from the looks of comments like "Natural beauty right there," while others gushed about how young she looks in the photo: "U look so young!!! Bb face lana💛💛💛"
Del Rey, who recently dropped a new song called "Mariners Apartment Complex," has been wearing her hair shorter than her usual super-long late-'60s-inspired style in 2018. With the exception of her lengthy Met Gala wig, she's been seen attending events like the Grammy Awards and ASCAP Pop Music Awards with hair reaching just past her shoulders. However, this latest Instgram photo seems to show her shortest hair yet.
Just last year she posted a now-deleted Instagram video, Del Rey shared how she uses a brow pencil to fill in her eyebrows, play up her freckles, and create a soft, brown winged liner look on her along her lower lash line. There appears to be no liner in sight in this new photo, though, and she looks just as gorgeous without it as she does with it.
Regardless of how much makeup Del Rey does or doesn't wear over the next few weeks, months, and years, we're excited to see how she chooses to steer her beauty evolution.
