Lady Gaga Looks Like the Queen of New York

When it comes to fashion, Lady Gaga is all about an era. With each album or film project that she takes on, her style choices always reflect its vibe flawlessly. When she released her country-leaning album, Joanne, she frequently sported denim cutoffs and a pink cowboy hat; when she was promoting A Star Is Born, she then leaned into classic Hollywood style with extravagant gowns. For her latest fashion mood, she’s once again looking to the classics.

Wearing an ensemble that a jazz singer would wear on a dimly-lit stage—or sing on top of a piano in!—Gaga posed in front of the Chrysler building wearing a timeless black Alessandra Rich gown, and paired it with a thick belt, sculptural Manolo Blahnik heels, Agmes x Simone Bodmer-Turner earrings, and Dita cat-eye sunglasses.

The ensemble is appropriate, as she’ll be performing with Tony Bennett in a special two-night jazz concert at Radio City Hall in New York City next week. More than that, Gaga’s been on a classic, Old Hollywood kick all month, starting when she came to New York after finishing up filming for Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. Perhaps she’s inspired by her character’s high-drama style (she plays the murderous ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, Patrizia Reggiani), perhaps it’s simply the glamour of New York City. Either way, the form-fitting silhouettes and high-wattage accessories are working for her. They, like Gaga, demand a spotlight!
