It’s incredibly obvious that Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott (whose birth name is Jacques Bermon Webster II) took naming their son very seriously. After initially announcing that his name was Wolf shortly after his birth last year, Kylie retracted the name announcement on Instagram and then pretty much went radio silent about the replacement name for the better part of a year. Last weekend, she casually broke that silence (and shared a whole bunch of pics of the youngest member of the Jenner-Webster fam) in an Instagram post simply captioned “AIRE 🤍.”

Fans quickly questioned the proper pronunciation of the name, which is honestly just good etiquette when you know an entire fandom is about to make a bajillion TikTok videos about something. When one Kylie fan account on IG reshared a version of her name announcement post along with the captioned, “Do you think it’s pronounced air or airey?” the reality star/beauty mogul/mom of two jumped in the comments with the definitive answer: “AIR ❤️.”

That brings us to one of those bajillion TikToks about the name, courtesy of TikToker @simo_ziqubu, in which he imagines how the couple decided on the name (while playing both Kylie and Travis, obviously) using audio from the opening credits of the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. After making it through Water, Earth and Fire (complete with a subtle *look* from Travis), they finally settle on Air.

The video is good, but the comment section is pulling focus, thanks to the top comment, a little note of appreciation for the joke from Kylie herself, articulated in emoji form: “🤣🤣”

While we assume the inspo moment for Aire’s name did not actually come from a Nickelodeon cartoon, we also have no idea what the real process of picking the name was like except that it took a *while* and Travis seems to have been brimming with name ideas that whole time.

“Travis likes to sometimes...one day, he’ll be like, ‘Oooh, this name’s kinda cool,’ and change it again,” Kylie shared on The Late Late Show in September 2022 when explaining why she and Travis had not legally changed their son’s name yet (which, to be fair, means Travis’s naming process was not actually *that* different from the Avatar TikTok theory. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
