Kylie Jenner Stole Her Mom’s Vintage Swimsuit

OK. Well, this makes sense!

When I first saw photos earlier today of Kylie Jenner sporting a 1980′s-esque, neon pink one-piece in Mexico, I went on a minor search engine stalk out of curiosity. Was the Body Glove brand planning a revamped high-cut revolution? Are neons back in? And more puzzling, still: How did Kylie manage to avoid a camel toe situation?

Though my Googling came up fruitless, I now have the answer to one-third of my questions (albeit, the arguably less juicy third): The swimsuit actually IS vintage—and in fact, it belongs to her mother, Kris! Bingo-bango!

Mama Jenner posted the above side-by-side on Instagram, comparing a snap of her teenage daughter in the maillot with a photo of herself, wearing the same bright suit while vacationing in Acapulco 1989 (and looking like a grade-A babe, I might add).

“Ohhhhhhh so THIS is where my vintage Body Glove bathing suit went!!!!,” Jenner captioned the post. “@kyliejenner you are grounded! Wait, I can’t do that anymore you’re 18….” She added the hashtags #whoworeitbetter #80’s#whoknewyouwouldlikemyoldstuff #recycle #love #mexico #alcapulco1989.

Though some might find it weird to wear a 26-year-old swimsuit, it’s actually a quite testament to Body Glove’s quality, and Kris’s ability to preserve her belongings. Swimsuits don’t usually have a reputation for long-term durability. (Personally, I actually have a swimsuit that was my mom’s in the early ‘80s, and it’s one of my favorite things I own. It is possible.)

The one thing we’re not feeling? The fact that Kylie seems to have also let her friend wear the vintage suit, also without asking her mother for permission. Not cool! Then again, we’re sure that the newly 18-year-old could afford to replace it if she needed to…
