Kylie Jenner Breaks CA's Non-Essential Travel Ban (Again) for Turks and Caicos Birthday Vacation

From ELLE

Kylie Jenner is the latest Kardashian-Jenner to celebrate her birthday as if there isn't a global pandemic happening. After having what appeared to be a modest day-of celebration at home with her daughter Stormi Webster on August 10, Jenner jetted off to Turks and Caicos for a luxurious 23rd birthday vacation, according to E!.

She shared photos on her Instagram and Instagram Story of the getaway, which her friend Anastasia "Stassi" Karanikolaou and sister Kendall Jenner are also on (and sharing photos of). "Best way to bring in 23," Jenner captioned one Instagram Story, forgetting the fact that many people aren't taking vacations—especially trips abroad or that involve air travel—because of the pandemic.

California, where Jenner resides, has been under a non-essential travel ban for months. Its current guidance says, "You can travel for urgent matters or if such travel is essential to your permitted work. Even though businesses around the state are opening up, avoid traveling long distances for vacations or pleasure as much as possible. This is to slow the spread of the coronavirus." Turks and Caicos is an over nine hour flight from Los Angeles.

But California's guidelines to its residents haven't stopped the Kardashian-Jenners, including Jenner herself, from engaging in non-essential travel multiple times throughout this pandemic. In May, Jenner traveled with the family to Wyoming, where they celebrated North West's birthday. (They appeared to use Jenner's private jet to get there.) In July, she and her sister Kendall Jenner went to Utah with a group of friends. They did not appear to wear masks around each other, despite not all quarantining together. Many states, including California, recommend people wear masks when spending time with people not in their households to slow the spread of coronavirus.
