For most of her life, Kristin Chenoweth swore she would never get married—until she met Josh Bryant. “I have been a self-proclaimed bachelorette my whole life…Then I was like, ‘Why would I ever let this guy go?’” she tells People. Seven years after meeting at a wedding, the Tony award-winning actress and the musician are officially married. According to the publication, the couple said “I do” on September 2, 2023 in a romantic, pink-themed affair in Dallas, Texas. The duo invited 140 friends and family members, including Katharine McPhee, David Foster, and Kathy Najimy, to join them at the private residence. The couple also shared the news with their Instagram followers, along with a few portraits captured by Benfield Photography.
Before the ceremony, a string quartet played from the balcony of the home while guests took their seats. Then, the couple’s dog, Thunder, carried out his ring bearer duties by walking down the aisle to “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, per the publication. For the bride’s grand entrance, she donned a pink strapless Pamella Roland gown featuring pearl flowers and an oversized bow in the back. “I didn’t want to wear white,” she says. “Simple and elegant. I never thought I’d get married, so I went very nontraditional with the gown. I love it.” Meanwhile, Bryant sported a gray suit from J. Crew, which he paired with a Prada belt and shoes.

During the service, the bride and groom exchanged traditional vows, but Chenoweth notes that she removed the word “obey” from her promises. They also made sure to include their Christian faith in the ceremony, such as selecting “The Prayer,” which Marissa Rosen, Crystal Monee Hall, Nikki Kimbrough, and Melinda Doolittle performed, accompanied by Chenoweth's music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell, People reports. “That was really important to us,” she says.
The couple’s wedding planner, Crystal Frasier Weddings, executed their vision of a romantic pink affair. “Without having to even ask Kristin, I knew that the theme would probably be pink-oriented in some way,” Bryant jokes. David Kimmel Design decorated the ceremony with an array of calla lilies, garden roses, majolica, spray roses, hydrangea, ranunculus, veronica, and mums in white, ivory, cream, peach, blush, and champagne tones.

After the couple was pronounced husband and wife, their guests sipped on signature cocktails: the “Wicked Margarita,” a nod to Chenoweth’s stint as Glinda on the Broadway musical Wicked, the “Bryant Old Fashioned” for the groom’s drink of choice, and a “Thundertini" martini as a tribute to their dog. For dinner, friends and family noshed on “Southern comfort” food, which included beef tenderloin, whipped potatoes and haricot verts, chicken, steak frites, fried pickles, pasta, salad, and flatbreads, the couple shares with People. To finish off their meal, the newlyweds cut into a five-tier Mexican vanilla bean wedding cake with a buttercream filling. Attendees could also help themselves to a box of chocolates and gourmet cookies, which were delivered to each table. For late-night snacks, Chenoweth’s favorites—Dunkin’ Donuts and 7-11 Slurpees—abounded.
At the reception, the bride changed into another pink ensemble by Pamella Roland: a mini pink dress with a large bow across the bodice. She also laced up a pair of Nike sneakers for optimal comfort on the dance floor. Since music is a big focus of the couple’s lives, they made sure to fuel the party with a killer soundtrack. The bride and groom shared their first dance to Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You,” which their friends Ty Herndon and Toby Freeman performed while Mary-Mitchell Campbell played the piano. They also enlisted a DJ to pump up the energy.
