Kristin Cavallari’s summer style is a neverending rotation of trending pieces.
More from Footwear News
The “Laguna Beach” alumna spent her weekend in style, posing out on the town on Saturday in a warm weather-ready look; the outfit matched a bold lace-up crop top with an asymmetric denim mini skirt.
The buzziest element of her chic look, though, was her choice of footwear. Cavallari accented her ensemble with lace-up thong sandals set atop a square toe — combining three of summer’s biggest shoe trends. Favored by Megan Fox, Lizzo, Cardi B and more, ankle-wrap heels are all the rage this summer with heels that snake across the ankle and calf for a standout punch and a supported fit.
Thong-toe footwear also returned to the celebrity scene last year as one its biggest trends and is sticking around in 2021. Be it classic flip-flops or thong-toe heels, the minimalistic silhouette falls in line with a ’90s-inspired revitalization of fashion, as seen with shoes like square-toe styles and pops of neon color. Stars like Kate Hudson along with Meryl Streep, Kim Kardashian and Gabrielle Union amongst other major names are continuing to support the trend in even cooler temperatures.
Cavallari herself opted for a similar pair of sandals in a black colorway during her visit to Cabo, Mexico, last month.
When it comes to dressier footwear, though, the 34-year-old star usually prefers teetering stilettos in a mix of silhouettes and colors for her formal occasions — she told FN in 2017 it’s “always” heels over flats. Her collection, highlighting styles from likes of Gianvito Rossi, Prada and Mia Becar could be seen in her former TV series “Very Cavallari.” For street style looks, Cavallari switches it up with Converse, Dr. Martens, Vionic and Sorel’s more casual footwear.
Beyond both red carpet looks and her off-duty trends, the reality television personality also has longtime ties to the footwear and fashion industries. She became a brand ambassador for Chinese Laundry in 2012 and designed her own collection with the brand for several years. She also founded her own accessories brand Uncommon James in 2017, with jewelry retailing for under $75, and has her Little James Clothing line for children.
