Krispy Kreme Is Celebrating Their 83rd Birthday With Friday's “Buy a Dozen, Get a Dozen” Deal

Update: July 15, 2020

In the wake of growing COVID-19 cases, Krispy Kreme has implemented additional safeguards for Friday's "Buy a Dozen, Get a Dozen" event. The doughnut retailer is asking that fans visit Krispy Kreme drive-thrus or order online, through the website or app, in order to keep lobby traffic to a minimum. Additionally, Krispy Kreme lobbies will only be open for pickup of online orders. All Krispy Kreme lobbies will be closed for in-shop ordering and dine-in on Friday, July 17, in anticipation of increased customer traffic.

As far as memorable sales promotions go, “buy one get one free” is a first-ballot hall of famer. Few other phrases so succinctly combine a call to action with an immediate incentive for doing so. Even as marketing campaigns have gotten both weirder and more sophisticated over the years, BOGO still stands the test of time.

In fact, the only thing better than BOGO might be “buy a dozen, get a dozen free.” And would you believe it, that’s exactly what Krispy Kreme has planned for Friday, July 17. In honor of the doughnut brand’s 83 birthday, they’re letting fans get a free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts on the house with the purchase of any dozen doughnuts. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better deal on doughnuts on this particular Friday.

In order to facilitate this massive transfer of free doughnuts, Krispy Kreme will also celebrate its birthday by keeping that mythical “Hot Light” (indicating fresh doughnuts are rolling out) on for even longer on Friday. That means a bigger window of opportunity to enjoy a Krispy Kreme as its founders intended: hot and fresh off the line.

In order to take advantage of this “BDGD” deal, you’ll need to roll up to Krispy Kreme on July 17, 2020, the one day this is happening. Claim that dozen with the purchase of any dozen through drive-thru, in app/online purchase for pickup, or via an in-person takeout order. The offer isn’t valid for delivery, meaning you’ve gotta get your butt in gear to physically (and hopefully safely) visit a Krispy Kreme location.

While the buy a dozen get a dozen deal might cost more than buying 24 full-price doughnuts would have back in 1937, a free dozen of anything is nothing to scoff at. So get down there on the 17th and secure yourself enough doughnuts to (maybe) last the entire weekend.
