Kraft Recalls At Least 83k Cases Of Cheese Due To Choking Hazards
It's not uncommon for a brand or store to issue the occasional recall, but a voluntary recall made earlier this week has people seriously scratching their heads.
In a statement made on September 19, Kraft Heinz announced that it would be recalling approximately 83,800 cases of individually-wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices for being, well, "unpleasant." According to the company's statement, the thousands of cases of cheese were recalled due to the potential for "gagging or choking" because of an issue with the product's plastic wrapping.
"The voluntary recall comes as a precaution after a temporary issue developed on one of our wrapping machines, making it possible that a thin strip of the individual film may remain on the slice after the wrapper has been removed. If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could be unpleasant and potentially cause a gagging or choking hazard," the announcement read.
The wrapping machines have since been fixed, but consumers who purchased the recalled products (the full list is on the Kraft Heinz website) are asked not to eat them and to instead return the items to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or refund.
Thankfully for us all, a handful of people on social media have offered their wise words of advice when it comes to Kraft's wrapper woes.
"Have people considered not eating the wrappers?" one user on X asked.
"Just make sure you peel off the whole wrapper... If you see a piece is missing, it's still on the cheese....," someone else chimed in. Seems simple enough, but be careful out there.
